This is the view out of the studio window. The skyline at twilight is just beautiful.

Recommended book

While on my 1300 mile trek I listened to "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak. It was an excellent book. I am now listening to "The Thunderbolt Kid" by Bill Bryson. I loved his adventures on the Appalachian trail last year.

Rayna's workshop

I was in Raleigh NC over the weekend to visit my son Tim and his wife Allena and to take a workshop with Rayna Gillman, . We had alot of fun painting, stamping, silk screening and transferring images. The weekend started warm so we had to open the windows wide and the fans going. By Sunday it was cooler and the windows were closed. We could have used the fresh air when the citrasolv smell started to fill the room.

1300 miles later

I started in Columbia MD on Wednesday last week (November 8th). It was raining and I was headed to Ohio. It was the day after the election. I got to Clarksburg WV when it was announced Donald Rumsfeld was resigning. I couldn't get the NPR station very well so I did the worst thing, dialed my phone while driving. I knew my friend Marni would know what was going on. I was on long enough to verify that indeed he had stepped down. Yeah!!! I arrived in Parkersburg WV around 3 pm and decided to do some shopping. Athens OH, my destination, doesn't have craft or fabric shops. I went to Crafts 2000 and Joann fabrics. I needed some supplies for the workshop in Raleigh over the weekend, more on that later. After 45 minutes of shopping I headed to Athens and the Dairy Barn Arts Center. After visiting with friends at the DB I headed to our house there. We have recently moved to Maryland but haven't sold the house in Ohio. We have gotten stung by the downturn in real estate. So after picking up a couple of dozen dead wasps and bugs I headed to another friends for the night. We had margaritas and time in the hot tub before going to sleep. Day one down.
